Eastleigh Basics Bank was set up to support those who are experiencing financial difficulty and need short-term support through the provision of food. Their mission is to “practical support individuals and families in financial crisis”. The Charity relies on donations from the local community and volunteers to keep it running.
Recent years have seen costs soaring for fuel and food. With belts being tightened and the number of those in need on the rise, Eastleigh Basics Bank has been a crucial support for those facing hardship. They have provided food for 7,158 people in 2023 so far – a massive 35% increase compared to 2022.
Their community services not only provide food but also allow you to enjoy a warm drink with one of their friendly volunteers whilst waiting for your food to be sorted.
“Supporting the local community is important to us at Callroute. Donating to this food bank has been a rewarding project for the team and a great way to get us all involved in supporting those in need locally. We have huge admiration for the volunteers that keep the charity running.” – Ewan Haig, Callroute Chief Executive Officer.
The Callroute team has donated a wide range of stock from long-life foods, dental and personal care, pet food, and more. These donations will be packaged up to suit the requirements of each referral and provide them with enough food and essentials to last up to 7 days.
